Sustainability

Blessing and reciprocation

Harmony and diversity, the motto of Ka:en Japan, are the centerpiece of our approach to sustainability as well as our business.

Attitude

Our business has two pillars: To provide superb experiences and to minimize the adverse effect on the environment.

For these goals, we believe that we must be aware of the harmony with nature; paying due respect to her and borrowing her resource in a sustainable way is the heart of the value of our products.

We make our products with this philosophy for superb experiences and an eco-friendly future.

No sacrifice

We sincerely wish for the well-being of our bodies and this planet and are pursuing it to the best of our ability. We have an image of humankind and the Earth as one organism, where our well-being contributes to that of the planet.

This is why our products are all organically grown; it’s not a response to fashion or trends but a result of our understanding and respect for this philosophy.

Be saving

The packages of our products use recycled paper made from newspapers and milk packages.

While it's often said that recycling paper emits carbon dioxide, we choose to see the big picture. We opt for paper materials made by high-standard technologies and widely recycled to curb deforestation and preserve the planet's ecology.

Forests, also referred to as the “lungs of the Earth,” play a crucial role in sustaining the lives of various creatures, including humans.
We sincerely believe that maintaining forests is tantamount to preserving the entire ecology of the Earth, which forms the foundation of our lives.

Aware of SDGs

We emphasize the connection between humankind, nature, and societies, by showcasing the diversity of tea leaves. This connection is, we believe, indispensable for a sustainable future.

Thus, Ka:en Japan actively contributes a portion of its proceeds to several specialized organizations to achieve the SDGs, also through the carbon offset program using J Credit of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan.
The organizations are exploring what they can do to achieve the SDGs with contributions primarily from our customers, including eradicating poverty, providing clean water and promoting healthy hygiene, and ensuring access to high-standard education for all.
