Asuka N.
The "Tomo" Collection
She was born as the youngest of five siblings into an honorable family that manufactures Chiran-cha, and took over the business of her father, Saeno N., and honed the craftspersonship as master blender.
She has been organically growing various kinds of tea leaves in her 40-hectare land for over 20 years.
While organically growing tea leaves at Chiran, which is a flat land in Kagoshima, is said to be challenging, she decided to co-exist with the environment and the ecology.
The name of her collection, “Tomo,” means “Co-existence” and “Friend” in Japanese; it is the perfect name for the masterpiece she produces with the valued philosophy.
Especially, the tea she is proud of, which takes more time to brew than ordinary one, features the impeccable balance of umami and sweetness. Her tea is valued so highly that it was provided at an international summit in 2023.
The taste is unforgettable. It will be a memorial moment in your life.
Region
Chiran - Kagoshima
Chiran-cha is one of the most premium tea leaves from Kagoshima, where a great amount of tea leaves are harvested.
The history of Chiran-cha is not as long as other famous tea leaves, but the quality management and craftsmanship in harvesting and manufacturing the tea leaves are no less sophisticated than the rivals. Through such technology and artisanship, they produce a lot of great tea leaves, among which, the deep-steamed tea made from the Chiran tea leaves is becoming popular among tea connoisseurs.
Tea type
Matcha
Matcha — a signature Japanese luxury tea — is made by grinding shade-grown tea leaves with a millstone.
It has a rich texture resulting from the direct consumption of tea leaves. Matcha is like the espresso of Japanese tea; extraction requires a different tea set and method from other tea types.
